RMA Group has provided geotechnical engineering, construction inspection and quality assurance materials testing services for the recently completed pavement reconstruction project at Needles airport.  The existing surface of Runway 11/29 and the parallel taxiway were severely damaged from the years of use.   Therefore, repair was needed for the 5,000 x 150-foot runway and associated parallel Taxiway “A”.   RMA provided a geotechnical investigation and pavement evaluation for the existing runway to assist in determining the most economical means of rehabilitation. RMA Group provided a design of an asphalt concrete pavement structural section, which utilized grindings obtained by processing the existing asphalt concrete section as a base course and minimized the cost of replacing the existing pavements.
